Resorthoppa Airport Transfers Review

We didn't deal with Resorthoppa direct, rather we booked transfers through Sunshine, purely for simplicity, one point of contact and a better price.

We received confirmation through the post with instructions.

Outbound Flight

When we landed in Orlando, we were asked to call 407-448-3969. We did, and were told to ring another number (407-832-0147). The original number was for CWS Tours and the second number is for Precision Transportation.

In rectifying our damaged bags, we had inadvertently crossed the airport and so we were waiting at stand A3, which we told the man on the phone. We waited for around 15 minutes with no sign of the vehicle. I did ask what I should look out for (colour, make, model?) but as I did, the man hung up.

After the 15 minutes had passed, we had started to notice a lot of people arriving at the airport but not many leave. That's when we realised there were two "A3" stands - one for arrivals and one on the other side of the airport for departures.

We called the second number to explain the mix up and that we were standing by A22 in departures. 15 minutes later a man ("Luis") ran up to us, introducing himself. He had parked at A3!

In the van there were two other women. They claim they had nearly been at their hotel when Luis turned around and cam back to the airport to collect us. They were on the same flight as us and had also experienced hassle in trying to track down their transfer driver.

Luis spent most of the time on his mobile phone, driving with one hand and often straddling two lanes. Some of the seat belts did not work either.

Inbound Flight

Our paperwork said to ring the company the night before. Luis said to ring the day after we arrived. We rang 2 days before we were due to fly. We rang CWS Tours and spoke to the owner (Charles). We booked an 11am pickup. He said to ring at 9am on the morning to get the driver's name and cell phone number.

We rang on the day of travelling to be told that the transfer was booked for 3pm. After a few minutes of reciting the previous conversation we were told to wait by the side of the road (most transfers meet at the hotel's reception) at 11am - the driver would be there whenever he could.

At 11.30am, the driver turned up (Luis again) in a different van. Again the seat belts did not work which was a concern given his driving style (again attached to his mobile telephone).

Conclusion

It's cheaper to reserve transfers online prior to departing. We have never used a transfer company before and whilst the overall issues were negligible, before and after an 8 hour flight, they can appear huge at the time.

We'd use Resorthoppa again, but we would prepare ourselves for a minor amount of aggravation care of the transfer companies not Resorthoppa.

Alternatives to requiring a transfer would be:

  1. Hiring a car to be collected and returned to the airport
  2. Catching the Number 42 Lynx Bus to the middle of International Drive at a cost of $1.75 per person.

We would advise not to use a taxi or to wait until you arrive to sort out your transfers. One taxi charged $10 a mile, so your transfer would cost you around $150 one way. On-the-spot transfer bookings were priced greater than this.
